January 25, 2009 Sunday Six Recap

We had snow on Monday, only about a half inch. This is heading up our driveway toward the road.
This is frost on the outside of the car window on Wednesday. Taken from inside the car.
Thursday, I stopped by the "lake" in town--more like a large pond. I liked the patterns in the ice on the water.
Friday, I saw this Great Blue Heron standing on a pond near home.
This is our Pathfinder Bible Achievement team captain holding their first place certificate on Saturday night. They will now advance to the next level.
Sunday was my mother-in-law's 84th birthday. This is her holding her dog, Brownie.

January 18, 2009 Sunday Six Recap

A castle along I-840 that we saw on our way to see the Snowy Owl.

Birdwatchers looking at the Snowy Owl (a rare bird in these parts--last seen here in 1987). My owl pictures are not good because it was so far away.
The moon shining through the clouds and tree limbs.
Our Pathfinder Bible Achievement Team with a first place award at the Practice level.

Our Pathfinder Bible Achievement Team studying the night before the Practice event.

Our cat, Cheddar.

January 11, 2009 Sunday New Six

I grabbed my other camera today and took some bird pictures--through the dirty windows (we heat with wood and it leaves a film of smoke on everything). It was cold outside and the feeders had a lot of activity.

January 4, 2009 Sunday New Six

We left home this morning to visit my brother Eldon, his wife Vanessa, daughters Amy and Erin, and our other brother Eric. The sky was beautiful as we left home.
I liked how this cloud covered the mountaintop between Elizabethton and Roan Mountain.
The sun peeped out for a few minutes and shone on this rural landscape.
We arrived in Roan Mountain. We got to the park after the office closed, but they had left us a key to the cabin in a dropbox.
Our cabin was quite a ways from the parking lot. Wheeled carts were provided to help us carry our stuff from the car to the cabin.

The day ended with a beautiful sunset.
